Another Full Saturday-Part 26

Sneaking in one more just under the wire here for you again. This is a single song from the guy I only know because he had a song in a movie called Dream A Little Dream I saw as a teenager and I enjoyed the soundtrack. Schlocky teen pap of the day, but that's why they make it. Hope this song is a little better. This is Michael Damian-Christmas Time Without You (Weir Brothers 7" 45 RPM WBR-413, Stereo, 1987).

  1. I like how you have 26 hours in your day, but I suppose that's necessary in order to rip and post all this stuff.

  2. Thanks for bringing this song to my attention! This is quickly becoming one of my new favorite Christmas songs this year. Michael cut this song two years before he scored his only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Rock On" on June 3, 1989. This is classic mid-'80's Adult Contemporary music. Michael's vocal register here is very similar to that of some of Richard Marx's early hits like "Hold on to the Nights" and "Endless Summer Nights." The bridge to this number reminded me of the one that is featured in one of my favorite minor Supremes hits, "Some Things You Never Get Used To", from 1968. Excellent tune! Thanks for posting this one!

    1. Yeah, I think Rock On was the song from the movie. I didn't realize it was a cover until much later. And I remember buying an LP of the original by David Essex, then realizing I hadn't pulled it out of the sleeve far enough in the thrift store and it had a giant chip out of the record on one side. Rare to see that in vinyl, but it happens. Glad you enjoyed the song, and thanks for the comment.

  3. Michael Damien was part of the short-lived Soap star musical teen idol phenomenon in the '80's along with Jack Wagner and Rick Springfield from General Hospital. Michael, meanwhile, was on the Young and the Restless.
