One For Tuesday

I know it is supposed to be Two For Tuesday, but I couldn't find anything that even remotely related to this record. You've got to hear this. It's Joe Symonds (Florida Power's Singing Truck Driver) singing I Am Florida Power (EvaTone Soundsheet 842501XS). It's sort of a cross between a corporate musical and a feel-good anthem, but with some rather stilted lyrics. Heaven knows who the market for this record was. I'm sure it was a give away, but who did they give it to? Customers? It's not very catchy. Employees? OK, maybe. Perhaps this was bound into the annual report for shareholders. Surprisingly, there's no mention of this out there on the web, so if anyone knows anything about, please let me know. This would fit in quite well over at 365 Days-2007 Edition, so if you like it, go over there and check out what they have to share.

(I couldn't remember if Florida Power had evolved into Florida Power & Light or something else, but my buddy who works for them assures me it's now Progress Energy. So there you go.)

February Drags On

This week in February brings you a sampling of Florida wildlife, both living and extinct. Above is a three-legged gator I shot in the Hillsborough River last year. I've seen him up there a couple of times. That missing leg makes him easy to identify. The shot below is a skull from a wooly mammoth that I shot at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton. They've got the whole skeleton on display near the entrance. I had to lie on the floor and shoot straight up to get this shot. I think it was worth it, though.
