Another Full Saturday-Part 15
Let's go a little country here for a minute with Teddy Phillips Orchestra and Ole Tex Kringle b/w When Santa Claus Invented Toys (Hallmark 7" 45 RPM H-11480, Stereo, 1980). Vocalist on the A side is Jimmy Caesar, and James Kirwan on the B side. Actually, the credits on the B side get a little wonky, so have a look at the picture if you're curious, or just download it anyway. What have you got to lose?
Did you buy this at Academy Records? That used to be one of my haunts in New York.
ReplyDeleteCould be. I remember running around NYC for a couple days hitting every store I could find and buying stuff willy-nilly. Then I caught a bad cold and barely made it onto the airplane at the end of the trip. I was miserable, but I had records. :)
DeleteHi Ernie, what an interesting record.
ReplyDeleteAnd I cannot understand idiots that put price tickets in the most stupid places. When I was little my mother sometimes got a magazine in the mail and she loved the cover. Out came the hair dryer and she heated off the address label. Off it came. Of course, they were new labels and not old price stickers, but i wonder if it would work to remove them. On the other hand, maybe you would have a warped platter.
This is just so bizarre, especially the B side. I am currently on my fourth listening. It has surely made it onto my Country Christmas playlist.
DeleteI'm bad about not removing price stickers when I buy the records, then I'm stuck (ha, get it?!?) with them later on. It does more damage to the label to try and remove it, so I just live with it. Also helps me to remember where and when I got something. I'm constantly finding stuff in the collection and am amazed at how long I've had it and not paid any attention to it. Shame on me...
DeleteI get it. I will keep that remark in my head. It should come in handy one day to say to someone...
