Trinity Test

Last year I had to opportunity to visit Los Alamos, the city built in New Mexico during World War II for the express purpose of developing the atomic bomb. It's a fairly easy drive from Santa Fe these days, but back in the day it was a tough trip that ensured a level of secrecy needed to keep out curious onlookers. It's a pretty cool place to visit, even though it's not anything like the small bee hive it was back then. Still had to go through a security checkpoint, but otherwise it was just a normal little desert town. Having a degree in nuclear engineering, I've always been a bit of a nuclear tourist, and one of my future goals is to be able to visit the Trinity test site, location of the first atomic explosion. I have not, however, seen the new Oppenheimer movie. It came out while we were preparing for our trip to Italy this summer, and we've not had time to see it still. (Or Barbie either, for that matter.) And all this is a longwinded way to get to the share of the moment, named for a very different Trinity. This is Trinity Methodist Church Chancel Choir-O Holy Night (Delta DR 457, Mono). Yes, it's one of those Delta albums that they mass produced then overprinted with info on the inside about the group on the record. I had a lot of these recorded this year with all the different covers they used, but I got lazy and never finished most of them. Maybe next year.

  1. Delta did a lot of job production around here. Discogs says it was based in Chicago with branches in Cleveland and Minneapolis.

    1. Oh, they're all over the place down here, too. I must have two linear feet of them on the shelf!
