A 12" Saturday-Part 4
Sticking with the R&B, which is understandable since the 12" single was oriented towards clubs & dancing, this next track features Shirley Murdock with Please Come Home For Christmas (Elektra 12" 33 RPM ED 5348, Stereo, 1988).
Wow, this was hiding in plain sight... well, sort of. Promo-only 12-inch isn't exactly obvious. Many thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLearn something new everyday! I'm guessing that producer Roger (Troutman) used the same basic tracks for his 1987 version (another promo 12-inch, it's in Discogs) which he later included on his 1996 hits album (it's in Spotify).
ReplyDeleteNote, however, that all three versions are rather different in length, so there was, at the very least, lots of differences in editing and mixing.
Glad you were able to suss all that out. :) I was hoping it was something relatively unknown, it's a little newer than most of the things that usually interest me.
DeleteOh, the Murdock single was totally unknown - at least to me!
