All Day Saturday-Part 15

Almost time for the latest edition of Christmas at 78 RPM, but first I need to squeeze in one more Christmas single share. Like many of these singles, this one seems to lean country. I think Christmas music was much more popular in the country and western genre during the late 70's and early 80's, or maybe I've just found more of it. Pop Christmas music went into a slump after it's 50's and 60's heyday, and didn't really come back into it's own until roughly the release of A Very Special Christmas in 1987. That's not to say there wasn't anything being released, it's just the balance of power shifted about that time. Like this single for instance. Mid-eighties, and certainly country. This is Margo Smith-Sittin' On Santa's Knee b/w Tell Someone You Love Them On X-mas Day (Bermuda Dunes 7" 45 RPM C 104, Stereo, 1985).

  1. Hi Ernie, after listening to Country Christmas (2023 share) and Christmas Booty (2020 share), I decided to check out some of your other Christmas Country shares. This single is quite interesting. Her voice, seems to me at least, has a Theatre stage quality to it. I am going to put together a Country and Western playlist. Just to have something different to listen to. Thanks as always for sharing these.
