Not The Chipmunks 4

Bringing up the rear here in our chipmunk cavalcade is this late entry from 1982. And with a title like More Christmas With The Happy Chipmunks, I fear they have a previous LP out there that I don't have, or can't find. So maybe next year I'll have another ripoff for you. In the meantime, this one is going to have to slake your chipmunk desires. This is The Happy Chipmunks-More Christmas Fun With The Happy Chipmunks (Holiday/Audiofidelity HDY 1951, Stereo, 1982).

1. Jingle Bell Rock
2. Frosty The Snowman

  1. My late Grandfather referred to Chipmonks as "future meatballs". He was not kidding.

    1. But they're so tiny, you'd need a dozen of them for one ball...

  2. Well dang, and I just FINALLY recorded my own copy last night!
Yours sounds much better, I assume you're using some pop and click filters?

We had both albums on cassette when I was little, and they were always my favorite. The tapes don't have a lot of life left in them, so it was great to find digital replacements. The first album used to be on another blog, but it's dead links now...looks like someone uploaded it to Archive.org. Tracks 1 and 4 have skips at the very beginning, I made my own fixes by splicing my cassette recordings into them.
I can check and see if I still have them uploaded, if links are allowed here.
They're not the best splices in the world, but I think I might've lost the source files in a hard drive crash.

    1. There's a big long post around here somewhere about my recording process. It's way too long to read, but yes, I've got a cleaning process and software that help to remove most of the sound artifacts.

Also, last weekend I think I found the first volume of this one. Too late to do anything with it this season, but I hope to get it posted and complete the set next Christmas! :)

    2. Yes, I read that one last night!
I've been hesitant to use noise/pop/click filters because too much can degrade the music...I've made some poor decisions in the past (and did not save the masters).

At least this experience has taught me that my turntable is too fast by about 5%, I'm going to have to figure out how to adjust that.
And the USB function clips everything and is useless.

I tried slowing my recording down to 50%, and I think they actually did closer to 60%, because it was very "drunk Jeff Goldblum". At 60% they kind of sound like Jan and Dean.

I will definitely be here next year.

They have another album, but it's not Christmas music, and what I heard did not impress me.

    3. Just remember that less is more when you're using click or noise removal software. And you can always set it to play what you've removed so you can see if you've removed too much. And always save a master copy!
