78 From 78's

This is the return of a project I was pretty proud of in the summer of 2012.  I had ripped tracks from 78 different Christmas 78's, and shared them out in four large batches.  I think I only shared out one track from each, as many of them only featured a single side of holiday cheer, but some were dedicated Christmas records, and on those I just picked one side to share with you. (Nope, I lied.  Looks like I shared both sides of some things.  Must have been lazy.)  I tried to stick to stuff that hadn't been re-issued and comped to death, but there are a few things in there that are probably easy to find here or there, so apologies if I step on any toes.  And six and a half years later, there are probably quite a few more that have shown up online.  I never got the chance to scan in the labels of any of these, so for the first time this season, I'm sharing out stuff without artwork.  Sorry.  I hate to do that because it seems like an incomplete package, but it was just a pain to try to scan these things back then, and who knows where the records I ripped might be today.  Anyhow, I hope you enjoy some of this stuff, it's older than the usual records you see around here.

  1. Good gracious, a lot of work went into this collection. It takes serious time to transfer all those 78s! Most impressive.

I first read "Something Barked On Christmas Morning" as "Something Barfed On Christmas Morning," which I think I prefer.

  2. Too much work. That's probably why it hasn't happened again. Though I do keep buying those Christmas 78s though...

Pretty sure I have Something Barfed on Christmas Morning around here somewhere, lemme look. :)

  3. Oh yes! I remember this set, and yes, it was one of the ones I lost that made me mad. Thank you so much for bringing this back after all these years.
I'll have to check again, but not sure if your re-ups from past years ever included the Christmas in Julys. 2017's was stupendous.
Thank you for all you do. These treasures are truly appreciated!

  4. let me join in the praise and appreciation for the work on all these singles, both the 78rpms and the 45rpms which follow. i imagine it takes a disproportionate amount of work to prepare them for posting. more bang for the buck with the lps. but let's face it, a lot of these so-called artists don't have the material for an lp, much less a christmas lp. so it's the single or nothing. many thanks.

  5. Ernie,
You can skip the scanner and use your smartphone to snap a photo of a whole album cover, with NO editing! Or you can setup a camera on a tripod and quickly snap a few hundred covers without editing them. Its fast and easy! Thanks for all the hard work!!! G
