Another Cricket

I just noticed that this record came right after the previous share according to the label numbers. That one is CR-X1, this one is CR-X2!  How cool is that? I'm sure I grabbed this one for the cover, but the music isn't too bad either. And the sound is pretty decent for a budget label kiddie record.  It wasn't destroyed by any children over the years and the pressing is relatively free of defects.  Not sure if this is new music or if it's a recycled recording from over the years.  Some of these titles seem awful familiar, but whether they're the originals or not is a question I'll leave to smarter scholars than I.  This is The Cricketone Chorus And Orchestra & The Playhour Players-Christmas-For Children Only (Cricket (Pickwick International) CR-X-2, Mono, 1959).

1. Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer
2. Jingle Bells
3. Frosty, The Snowman
4. Winter Wonderland
5. Mixie Pixie (Santa's Helper)
6. The Snowflake Song
7. The Sound Of Christmas
8. The Night Before Christmas
9. A Christmas Carol
10. Christmas Carol Medley: Joy To The World; It Came Upon A Midnight Clear; Silent Night; Oh, Come All Ye Faithful

  1. I suspect there is only one children's Christmas record that has come out in dozens of different covers.

  2. Small world. I'm about to put up ten tracks from the Playhour label boxed 12-record EP set "50 Christmas Favorites." Two of them are matches from this LP--Playhour was also Pickwick.

I'm assuming the tracks on your LP originally came out as Cricketone singles.

  3. Your guess is as good as mine as to where all the tracks came from. They certainly had an interesting racket going.
