Bison's Back
This is a stereo upgrade to a record I first posted back in 2007 in mono. I remember not liking it very much back then, but after listening to it in stereo, I decided I liked it a lot better this time around. Maybe my tastes have changed. Maybe the stereo sound makes it less muddy. I don't know, but I'm going to tell you it's one of the things you should download if you have an appreciation for glee-club type stuff from the late fifties. This is a pretty good example of that sound. Good mix of tunes here, too. Common, obscure, sacred and secular. Get it while you can, this is The Bison Glee Club-Warren Angell, Director-The Joy Of Christmas (Word WST 8036-LP (The Bison Glee Club Of Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Oklahoma), Stereo, 1959).
1. Christmas Medley: Joy To The World; Silent Night; White Christmas
2. A Christmas Roundelay
3. Christmas Means Thinking Of Jesus
4. Deck The Hall
5. Mary Had A Baby
6. The Holly And The Ivy
7. Jingle Bells
8. Rudolph - The Red-Nosed Reindeer
9. That Holy Night
10. The First Noel
11. Winter Wonderland
12. Cantique De Noel
13. Carol Of The Bells
I can't believe that you found two copies of the Bison Glee Club of Obscure University, Oklahoma.
ReplyDeleteProbably because it got distribution on a semi-major label. That helps. :)
