A Big O?

I wasn't sure what to make of this album when I first found it.  Now that I've recorded it and I'm sharing it with you, I'm still not sure.  It seems to be a vanity project by Mr. Oldham, and it's best described as a piano album.  It's not bad, it's just...unexpected.  Give it a listen, you'll see. I couldn't find too much on the internet about this record except for an old share at FaLaLaLaLa, where you can find a little more info about the man.  This is R. Wayne Oldham-Have Yourself A Big "O" Christmas (Indigo Special Products ISP-0002, Stereo, 1983).  Enjoy!

1. Silent Night
2. Blue Christmas
3. Home For The Holidays
4. Silver Bells
5. White Christmas
6. Winter Wonderland
7. Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer
8. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
9. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

  1. I think you should go around calling yourself the Big "E".

  3. Wayne Oldham was a well-known character around Nashville when I was growing up and a young man in the 70s. He owned a couple of restaurants called Ireland's, one on 21st Avenue near Vanderbilt University, and one at the long-vanished Harding Mall. Ireland's which had the best 'stake 'n' biskits' you ever ate. :) Everyone I knew considered them a real Nashville treat. He was also the main franchisee of Wendy's for a long time in and around Nashville. He was (nominally) a member of the Episcopal church my wife and I got married in. I recall him showing up for Christmas mass and taking communion without ever doffing his trademark bowler hat. I never saw him in church again, or anywhere else, for that matter. He passed away in 1992.
