The Frost Report

This record has been in my collection for years, but I haven't paid much attention to it until I found another copy recently.  After I listened to it, I wished I'd ripped and shared it with you years ago.  It's really, really good.  I think most of the goodness is because of Billy Taylor, Frost's bandleader on his show at the time, The David Frost Show, on US network TV from 1969-1972. Taylor brings a great seal of jazz to the proceedings, though it's tinged with all sorts of unexpected touches from rock, blues, gospel, you name it, there's something in there.  One song even features a kiddie chorus, and it still sound good.  If you're looking for something to listen to that you haven't heard already this season, this is it.  Even the originals here, and there are several, are quite good and worth repeat listenings.  I just can't say enough about this one to get you to download it.  Give it a try, you won't regret it. Frost doesn't sing here, in case you're worried about that.  He introduces each song, and has one spoken-word piece that's actually quite nice. This is Billy Taylor & David Frost-From David Frost And Billy Taylor-Merry Christmas (Bell 6053, Stereo, 1970). Don't forget there's another David Frost piece in the archives.
