Super Saturday, Armed Forces Version 4
Our next radio show is from 1969 and features a few second-tier country stars on one side with gospel artists on the flip. I say second-tier, but that doesn't make them bad artists. Everyone loves the Jordanaires, even if it's mostly for their work with Elvis. Again, I'm presenting these as the complete radio shows they are, not as a collection of individual snippets. Back when I first shared this in 2007, I think I may have cut it into pieces for you, but I'm much too lazy for that this year. Please give a listen to Country Christmas (Advertising Division, HQ U.S. Air Force, No Number, Stereo, 1969).

2. The Florida Boys And The Singing Rambos-The Gospel Sounds Of Christmas

Well, the Air Force was aiming at country stations with this one, it seems. Nice programs!
ReplyDeleteQuite a few were aimed at country listeners. They may have been after a certain demographic...
DeleteErnie,
ReplyDeleteSince we're talking about Gospel groups and radio shows, if I may, I'd like to do a bit of personal Christmas sharity. Here is a classic Christmas radio broadcast from The Gethsemane Quartet of Greensboro, NC. I grew up not too far from where the owners of this group lived and hung around this very station (and others) as a kid, although both some years later than this recording LOL.

Enjoy and please feel free to share with others, love and praying for y'all.

Thanks for the share! I'll give a listen when I get the chance, but at the moment I'm sitting at the airport waiting for my flight. It's gonna have to wait until I return.
DeleteYou're welcome, Ernie and thank you! It's only around twenty-six-and-a-half minutes, but it's good, IMHO, that's why I posted it myself LOL. Happy traveling and Merry Christmas, love and praying for y'all.
