Sister Arlene

I couldn't resist throwing up a remaster here featuring a sister act. Well, not that kind of sister act, this is the kind with just a single sister. This is a redo of an album I first shared in 2012 (13 years ago!) and I've brought it back periodically ever since. I really enjoy this one because she sings some more interesting songs than the usual hymns found on these sorts of records. There are even a couple good tracks on here that I haven't heard elsewhere. And to top it all off, I've found two different issues of this record, each with a slightly different cover, one of which identifies the artist and the other only says it's by a sister of St. Dominic. I wonder if this came out in the wake of The Singing Nun and her popular hit Dominique. Hard to tell without being able to put a date on the record. Anyhow, I'll quit yapping and share the record with you. This is Sister Mary Arlene, O.P.-Christmas In Song (Adrian Associates For St. Dominic, Amityville, L.I., N.Y. LP-102, Mono).

  1. The Sisters of St. Dominic are a particular Dominican group that is based in Amityville, New York. "O.P" stands for "Order of Preachers," at least so the browser tells me.
