Nunsense
Following on from the couple of singing sisters (and a brother and a father and a mother) I shared yesterday, here are a whole bunch of singing sisters for you. I applaud these sisters for going with a custom cover on their record instead of going with a stock cover. Nice picture and that's a pretty cool typeface up at the top, may even be hand-drawn. Sometimes I'm attracted to the strangest records, even without the expectation of good music. Don't let me discourage you from downloading this one though, it's a good collection of singing nuns, and if that's your thing, then please download The Cistercian Nuns Of Wrentham Abbey-A Candle To Christmas (BRC Records SR-605, Stereo).

Since I have appointed myself the expert on religious orders around here, some info: "Mount Saint Mary’s Abbey is a monastic community of some fifty Trappistine nuns in Wrentham, Massachusetts. The more complete, formal name of the Order is the Cistercians of the Strict Observance, whose founding at Cîteaux, France dates back to 1098."
ReplyDelete1098!! I didn't know the calendar went back that far. :)
DeleteIt does. I was there.
DeleteNow, now...
DeleteGreat cover! That red and black reminds of the album "Come Alive at Christmas with the Sacred Heart Singers of Ewen, Michigan". No nuns but still religious.
ReplyDeleteI have a download from long ago and who knows where if you'd like it!
DeleteI probably have it somewhere, I'll take a look.
