Midnight Special Delivery
Middle of the night, let me throw up something you're likely to skip over anyway. This is Steve & Maria Gardner-Christmas Joy...Special Delivery (Clarion Records CL 2184, Stereo, 1980). Love the hair, love the wide open collar. It may be 1980 here but nothing about this image has moved on from the Seventies just yet. I feel like even that typeface is derivate of something you'd see on The Midnight Special. Enjoy!

Oh with that cover I'm definitely not skipping over this one. Fondue anyone?
ReplyDeleteIs that supposed to be them looking out of a frosted window pane? Is that an option you could choose down at Glamour Shots? Nah, that didn't come until later...
DeleteMaybe we all collectively suddenly developed glaucoma...
DeleteEye doctor appointment tomorrow to help prevent just that. :)
DeleteI converted this album back in 2011,, from my in-laws pile of Lps :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully, your Lp is better :)
Ernie, your copy is so crystal clear compared to mine... thank you so much :)
DeleteOn the side note, I believe that Steve & Maria sang gospel music for Evangelist Ken Campbell at his meetings.
Well, I'm happy that I picked this one up then, always nice to know I've helped a visitor with a better copy. So many of these things are just shots in the dark. I pick an LP at random and rip it, who knows what reaction it will elicit.
DeleteNot sure who Ken Campbell is, he must not have been as big as some of the others I've heard of. Not that I paid any attention to any of them...
That nameplate of theirs is quite something.
DeleteWasn't there a camera filter you could use to produce that Vaseline-on-the-lens effect?
That was back when a filter was a physical object, not a button on your phone. I still have a handful of star filters somewhere for my camera. And some neutral density filters. I always wanted a graduated density filter but never got one. They are pretty cool once you know how to use them.
DeleteErnie, you are knocking albums off of my wish list left and right! You are the BEST! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI suspect you have a very large wishlist, ergo I'm more likely to knock stuff off. :)
DeleteErnie you wrote: Love the hair, love the wide open collar. I write: where is his hairy chest and thick bushy mustache. It screams 1980s, even though I was just about 4 years old and getting older...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this album really started out nice. It was going up and up, and then it crashed. No preaching please. What next, send me your love gift and I will pray for you.
Sorry I am being mean here, but I do not think they need to combined these two together. If so, separate them on side 1 and side 2. Oops...then came CDs and now digital. I guess you cannot win.
They have to convert you, right?
