Adam, Not Drew

You want some more Christmas Chorale? I thought you might after that list one. This is The Adam Carey Chorale-Christmas Chorales (Colortone C 33-4942, Mono). Nice cover here, and nice singing, but it's a little hard to get past the budget-label smell. This thing has probably been repackaged and resold a few times, though I was unable to ID any specific instances of it. And it's pretty likely there is no such person as Adam Carey, though I'm too lazy to do any research at the moment. If you know anything more about this release, please don't be shy, share what you know in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!

1. Joy To The World
2. The First Noel
3. Deck The Halls
4. Away In A Manger
5. God Give Ye Merry Christmastime
6. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

8. Oh Holy Night
9. O Come All Ye Faithful
10. White Christmas
11. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
12. Jingle Bells

  1. Hi Ernie,
    Colortone
    Profile:
    US label.
    Parent Label:
    Waldorf Music Hall
So we know, they use different names on different releases.
I quickly scanned the web, nothing. I quickly scanned BSN under Waldorf and could not find a similar match.
However, they list several albums I have MP3s of, with a different artists name and on Colortone.
The question is, I thought Colortone was sold in Canada, but they also have have some with the Waldorf Music Hall label.
And the guy, "Puddin' Head" Smith, Aliases:
    Keyboard Kingston, Knuckles O'Toole.
I forget his real name, Dick Hyman was one, as was Billy Rowland.

Like many recordings made by Somerset and Alshire have various names for the same tracks, though mostly 101 Strings. That is another can of worms as my father used to say when I was a kid.

    1. Yeah, I'd like to find out if this was released elsewhere under a different name, but I couldn't find anything. I'm sure it's out there, either from before or after, they never left a recording in the can without reissuing it a dozen times.

  2. Oh, I was trying to findout who carried Colortone releases. Waldorf they say was Woolworth, but Colortone.

Oh, you just postered this album, but my search says this:

    1. I'm suspecting that has something to do with the time difference between here and there, but I could be wrong. For a large chunk of the world, this was published tomorrow, if you know what I mean. :)

      Glad you like it.

  4. Yes, I think you said this company is from New Zealand? Maybe they are 21 hours away from me. I know Australia is near that time by plane, lay over and plane, so that makes sense :-)

  5. Hehee Ernie,,
    So funny, yet so cleaver.
Adam, Not Drew. I just figured this out. Drew Carey host of The Price Is Right, and of a sitcom I think it was. I read about him somewhere...

    1. Lots of my post titles are like that, usually when I can't think of anything better for a title. :)

  6. Oh Ernie, Oh Bryan, what is wrong with us.
This album is an abridged version of the 18 track "The Edward Carrington Chorale" album "Christmas Chorale" on GA from 1958.
I knew I liked this album as I just listened to it last week. Another aliase name to milk the public who gets home to find they already have these tracks by another artist. Then they argue about these being two different groups or singers no matter what they are told. Oh me, oh my. Buyer beware. :-(

  7. But, I love having it in my collection anyways.

  8. That cover reminds me of the hours and hours my mom and I sat by the Christmas tree, staring out of the snow-covered window while she made obscene hand gestures at the neighbors. Good times.

  9. Hi Ernie,
I have a 14 and 18 track MP3 album from Enoch that was released by, MH, GA, MHK, Colortone, and Brigade, in this order. I have no idea if there was an Audition release. The releases are 10, 14, and 18 tracks and by 3 different credited alias names. So, it had a long shelf life. I am not sure if Brigade is another Enoch sub company, but the others are. Since he sold these labels, I guess the Command label was spared a release.

    1. As far as I know, Command and Phase 3 were spared the fun of budget reissues. I think he was finally past that point in his life, he could concentrate on new stuff instead of just rehashing the oldies for every penny that could be extracted.

  10. thats funny.
"for every penny that could be extracted".
Soon there will be no more pennies in the USA.
    if only...if???
The Euro would get rid of the 1 and 2 cent coins. What a total waste.
I never understood why, when they went to the Euro, they did not get rid of the 1 and 2 cent coins. The mind boggles as they say.

    1. Too many people in the US want their exact change. They know that the extra four cents they are losing in each transaction will just make the retailer (or more likely the bank) that much richer. And it will, but whatever. We haven't had two cent coins here since I think the Civil War era, so more than 150 years. We have had three cent pieces at one point, but not for long. A 'trime' they call it.
