10-8
What a long strange day it is, what with all these ten inch records. Seems like a strange theme, I know, but it's the tenth, what better day to dump them all here? Let's take a look at what's next in the pile. Here's a good one from the good old Waldorf Music Hall label. When you think of budget record labels, Waldorf is not the worst, but it's certainly not the best. Some interesting stuff here on the A side, but the B side is all recycled from somewhere else. (Stay tuned to see where they came from...) Anyhow, this is The Story Of Christmas (Waldorf Music Hall 10" 33 RPM MH 33-145, Mono, 1955).

3. Godfrey Malcolm At The Organ, Fredrico On The Chimes-God Give Ye Merry Christmastide
4. Godfrey Malcolm At The Organ, Fredrico On The Chimes-Beautiful Saviour
5. Godfrey Malcolm At The Organ, Fredrico On The Chimes-Angels We Have Heard On High
6. Godfrey Malcolm At The Organ, Fredrico On The Chimes-We Saw Three Ships
7. Godfrey Malcolm At The Organ, Fredrico On The Chimes-Shepherds! Shake Off Your Drowsy Sleep

I don't know who most of these folks are, but Lanny Ross was a popular vocalist in the 1930s. The budget labels liked to bring back anyone with some or even any name recognition.
ReplyDeleteA little name recognition and a low price goes a long way...
DeleteReckon length has a lot to do with this, but, only seven cuts? I'm used to ten-enchers having eight, or in some of your cases today, more LOL. Oh, wondered why I saw 10-10 this morning, now I see it above, in it's rightful place LOL. Keep up the good work, love and praying for y'all.

Well, I think at least one of the tracks on the a-side is a bit longer than average, but remember, this is a budget label. You were lucky to get sound in the grooves at all!
DeleteTrue dat. Got these on the Yitwow, will check 'em out ASAP, love and praying for y'all.
