10-4

10-4 good buddy, you got your ears on? What's your 20? I've been waiting all morning to say that. Now that it's out of my system, let's see what the next ten inch record in the pile is. Oh, Christmas music boxes. Can't get enough of those. Aren't you glad it's only a ten inch record, otherwise there would be much, much more of these. This is Bornand Music Box Record Company-Authentic Beautiful Music Box Medley Of 14 Christmas Songs (Bornand Music Box Record Company AB-LP-1, Mono, 1953). I know it says this is a medley, but it's not. There were 14 distinct songs on the record, I didn't have to do anything special to cut this into tracks. Dirty liars.

1. Silent Night
2. Adeste Fideles
3. O-Sanctissima
4. Ave Maria
5. The Rosary
6. Hark The Herald Angels
7. Chimes Of Trinity
8. Jingle Bells
9. O-Tannenbaum
10. White Christmas
11. Monastery Bells
12. First Noel
13. Song Of The Bells
14. Auld Lang Syne

  1. If you can't trust a record company, who can you trust?

  2. Ernie,
I'm almost certain I had this as a kid, at least, in part, because a good chunk was out of it, into cut two, but can't play it, even after renaming/unzipping. Any suggestions? Oh, while I'm here, are most of these cuts of the bigger music box variety, with cut fourteen just a little celeste-type? That'll nail it down for me. Keep up the good work, love and praying for y'all.

    1. Josh, did you try re-downloading the whole thing? Can't imagine why this one wouldn't unzip properly for you. And as far as what tracks sound like what, I don't remember them much at all. I do feel like these same recordings were released more than once, so this may be the right music but not necessarily the right record.

    2. Josh - Are you using the Windows utility to unzip the file? It's not very good. I have been using 7-Zip for 20 years or so and it has never failed.

    3. Yeah, what Buster said. Microsoft doesn't do a good job with unzipping archives. I'm using 7-zip to create them, it should have a pretty good shot at knowing how to properly unzip them.

    4. Thanks, fellers. Yeah, I actually downloaded it twice, because my PC/Yitwow couldn't remember it, but when I moved it again over to the latter, it said replace or skip this file, so I just replaced it. Yeah, fun PC days. I'll look into said program, but this PC's kinda maxed out, at the moment. Again, thanks, love and praying for y'all. P.S. Ernie, same songs repackaged, could be possible.

    5. I've noticed with Windows lately it doesn't automatically update the contents of a folder, you have to hit the refresh or update buttons. I think that may be what happened when it asked about overwriting. The stuff was there, it just wasn't showing it to you. Very annoying issue, but you learn to work around it. Lemme know if anything works for you.

    6. Roger on the workaround. Just went to the renamed ZIP and while some of the files are apparently opening, they say they're playing, but I'm hearing nothing. As I said, this PC is kinda maxed out, so not wanting to install something new/else on it, just quite yet. I am in the process of clearing off some files from the hard drive, to make room for things I'm working on, though. Priorities, ya know. As I get these folders, I am putting them on my new external hard drive, yeah buddy! Thanks, again, love and praying for y'all.

    7. Have you rebooted lately? My laptop tried to tell me it had no soundcard for a week until I rebooted it. Windows is weird.

    8. Oh yeah, on the workaround for Windows forgetting, I just turned off/on the PC and that part fixed itself, have to do that, sometimes. Again and as always, love and praying for y'all.

    9. Ernie, I've got a sound card and it works just fine, thanks. Don't believe my screen reader would work without it. Been declutterring (however ya spell it) and need to do other things, so will work on this later. Again, thanks, love and praying for y'all.
