Hot!

Watch the heat waves coming out of the engines on this F/A-18 as the pilot prepares to taxi out onto the runway.

Watch as that tree on the left goes from fairly sharp to mushy.

I think it was right after this one that he actually began to roll and move away from me. Thank goodness I had a long lens so I didn't have to burn my face off to get these shots.

  1. Lovely pix! What a good shot you are. What are you using for equipment? I'm shopping.

I share your love of things military, historic, mechanical, etc. But you're a better shot. ;-)

  2. Hello, Marvin. I shoot with a still-new Canon 7D, which I got after my previous XTi jammed while shooting a space shuttle launch. I've started a collection of L series lenses recently because I was tired of not being able to crop my pictures very tightly before they would start to blur. Those jet exhaust shots were with a 100-400 f/4-5.6 L zoom that I'm pretty proud of. I'm almost to the point where I can hand hold the monster, but my arms get tired pretty quickly.
