  1. it’s a good thing that it’s me who saw this and not some of the social justice warriors i know. they would weep and wax indignant at a charity named ‘the society for crippled children’ . they’d want to give back the money raised, unsing the songs, unpraise the lord. me, i don’t care. i get called a lot worse. it rather reminds me of an incident on the job some years ago. i was working with a couple of dominicans when a girl on crutches passed us by. the first guy, let’s say he was pretty new to the country and trying hard to learn the language, he pointed and said, “look at that girl… she crippled.” the second guy, a borough assimulant, replied, “don’t say ‘crippled’. that’s a bad word now. you gotta say ‘handicapped’ for people like that.” of course, i never miss an opportunity to lord it over people. after all, i not only graduated from high school, i graduated with honors. so i chimed in, “actually, you can’t say ‘handicapped’ anymore. the socially acceptable term now is ‘physically challenged’.” the first guy thought a moment and said, “physily bull***t, she crippled”.

a rose by any other name…
