26 Days Of Christmas-Day 9

Since I shared a Kiss song with you earlier in this collection, I figured I'd do it again. This is Sue Powell-Kiss Me It's Kiss-Mas (7" 45 RPM Basic B-208). It's a cute little ditty, but I don't know if it's a young girl, or an adult trying to sound young. Download it and let me know what you think.

Previous Tunes:
Mickey Gilley-Don't The Girls All Get Prettier At Christmas Time
Scott Fagen-Sandy The Blue Nosed Reindeer
Russ Morgan-The Mistletoe Kiss
Sascha Burland-The Chickens Are In The Chimes!
Commander Shea School Boys' Choir-Chree-See-Mus
The Crew-Cuts-Dance Mr. Snowman Dance
Tennessee Ernie-A Rootin' Tootin' Santa Claus
Arthur Godfrey-Christmas Is Christmas

  1. Allright, Ernie, I'm guessing on this one....there is a singer here in Nashville named Sue Powell - she was formerly a member of the group Dave & Sugar. According to her bio, she was raised in Sellersburg, IN, her dad had a recording studio in their house and first recorded her at age 7.

  3. But wait, there's more. She also used to co-host the syndicated show "Nashville on the Road" with Rex Allen, Jr and Jim Stafford. Also, when she was picked for Dave & Sugar, she beat out "Sylvia" Hutton...who went on to be much more successful as a solo act.

I met Dave Rowland once - nice guy - he used to be a member of the Stamps Quartet during the time they travelled with Elvis.

  4. Dave & Sugar were a trio; she was one of the replacement girls at one point.

I gave a friend of mine one of their lps as a joke once because the photos were so "sexy" in a 1979 way. Little did I know they actually had country hits.

  5. Apparently, Dave and Sugar are great for Casinos, Festival, and more!

Why not contact them and ask? About Sue Powell, not the Casinos or Festivals, that is. Unless you have one and you need a band, in which case, they're great. Apparently.
