On Second Thought

I wasn't going to share this record because there were a couple of bad skips in one song, but I spent a couple hours playing with it and I think it's a little better now. I can still hear it, but I think that's because I know where it is and I'm listening for it. It also fades in just a little bit late, but I'm sure you won't notice that bit. If you hear the skip, then I'm sorry, please feel free to delete it. I referenced this record in passing earlier in the year when I was sharing out a batch of records that someone had donated to the blog. I lamented not being able to share them all because of the skips. But like I said, some hard work and time seems to have helped the situation greatly. Thanks and Merry Christmas to the kind visitor who donated this record. I've never seen another copy in all my collecting days, so I'm happy to be able to share The Knightsbridge Singing Strings-Christmas Mood (Purist Records PURIST-SP-13, Stereo) with you. Enjoy! (You like smooth silky strings? Then this record is for you!)

  1. Purist is an odd label in that almost all its issues are of the Knightsbridge Singing Strings - 18 of 20. The others are a singer named Charles De Forest, whom I like, and Tommy Rey and His Caribe Steel Band. Discogs says the label is from the Bunk Johnson Appreciation Society!

  3. One odd looking cover. Of course, it must be a Reindeer, but looks a lot like a goat face... and it is such a dark looking color. Otherwise, gotta listen to it :)

    1. Jonathan - I agree. That said, it was done by one of the most famous 20th century graphics designers, Milton Glaser.

    2. It's dark, but i like it. Might look better in a brighter color pallete.

  4. Well Ernie,
Yes, yes, I like, I liked this one.
As I have said, if you want to melt my heart, put on a record with strings.
Skips, what skips, i must have been melting to have noticed.
If only I had listened to this one sooner. But it was never too late and I am glad you shared it after all.
Oh...I am holding back on those listening to those Longines sets. I just want to melt completely when I finally listen to them.

    1. I think i got all the skips out, but I'm never sure. I haven't seen anyone mention any skips this season, though I have made some other mistakes. You never know what's going to slip through my shoddy QC.
