Can Con 2
As promised, here's the second record put out in support of the Ontario lottery, released one year after that last one I just shared. It's more of the same, performed by the same studio band using the same dated eighties production techniques. Some good songs though, don't get me wrong. I can imagine putting quite a few of these songs into a unique Christmas mix, especially some of the ones with interesting stories. It's hard to find new music that gives you a good solid Christmas feeling, and I think some of these fall firmly into that category. Please be my guest and download Music Writers Orchestra And Chorus-Christmas Is For Children (Quality Records for Ontario Lottery Corporation ONT 101, Stereo, 1982). The music is credited to a slightly different group name this time, but I'm pretty sure it's the same outfit.

It was great of the Ontario lottery to produce these albums. Not sure if it sold any lottery tickets, but a nice idea.
ReplyDeleteEasier to give away than money. :)
DeleteYou know what's NOT Canadian? FESTIVUS!! Put up your aluminum pole, air your grievances, show off your feats of strength, and enjoy your made-up holiday! If Christmas isn't really your thing, there's Festivus for the Rest of us!
ReplyDeleteNo records for Festivus I'm afraid. I couldn't even find any Chanukah records this year.
DeleteI'll admit it, these two Can Con's are my favorite of this year, different music but still holding the feeling of the season, funny in looking up on Discogs I see there is a TACO TIME issue from 1987 - really got some miles out of these for sure. Thanks for all that you do here Ernie - much appreciated and happy holidays to you
ReplyDeleteYou never know what you might like. :)
DeleteWell Ernie,
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun one, because it was free. No really, it was a nice to enjoyable listen. On the other hand, you had to pay for your copy. :-(
That being said, there were a few lousy voices on this freebie, but it was the thought that counts.
I'm sure I didn't pay very much. :)
DeletePity no Canadian visitor has chimed in to say they have or had these albums and how they actually got them.
