Close to Canada

Yesterday was all about the records from Canada, even though most of them turned out to not really be Canadian after all. This time I've got a record for you that comes from a US state pretty close to Canada, I hope that counts for something. This is The King's Choraliers-Go Tell It On The Mountain-Christmas Album (Sound SLP 126, Stereo, 1969). According to the liner notes, these guys are out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and in my book that's pretty close to Canada. Work for me.

1. Caroling, Caroling
2. Shepherds, Awake
3. Come To The Stable
4. Christians, Awake, Salute The Happy Morn
5. The Birthday Of A King
6. Go Tell It On The Mountain
7. Hallelujah
8. The Holly And The Ivy
9. I Wonder As I Wander
10. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
11. Be Joyful, Be Merry
12. O Savior Sweet
13. While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
14. Gesu Bambino

  1. Thanks, Ernie. Just downloaded and haven't listened, yet, but it looks interesting. Given the nature of this post, maybe I should-a-posted our Christmas Cantata link here, but as you say, a comment is a comment LOL. Merry Christmas, love and praying for y'all.

    1. Looks nothing like Michigan to me, at least nothing I've ever seen that says Michigan on it.

    3. If your software had tried to describe the cover, it would have mentioned Switzerland. You'll just have to take our word for it. :)

  2. Yeah, Michigan doesn't have mountains like that. That church (?) looks Swiss to me.

    1. Yeah, I was guessing Switzerland. Sure looks like the Alps to me.

  3. I'm real close to GR, and I can tell you if there are any mountains like that there, they're doing a really good job of hiding them =)

For the record, it's about 6 hours from Canada.

    1. If I had scenery like that, I don't think I'd hide it.

  4. Hi Ernie,
...I have never been a fan of deep male voices. Thank goodness, the boys-young men in my grades of 3rd to 12th never had them in our Choirs.
That being said, it was a nice listen though.

    1. At least you gave it a chance, that counts for something. By the way, your Christmas card still hasn't shown up. Probably stuck somewhere waiting for me to pay a tariff or something...

    2. Sorry to hear that. Very strange. I had a feeling with all that is going on over there, including the Post Office, it might not arrive. Very sad.

    3. I don't think I got any cards from overseas, so maybe they're all still coming...

    4. Well, I will send out another one today.
I did not keep track of which color one I had sent you. There were 5 colors, similar ideas, so hopefully this second one is different.

    5. Probably still safe to wait a while longer. I sent myself a postcard from Italy a couple years ago and it took something like four months... :(

    6. I went an sent you another one today. You are worth it, and so is Meredith.

Anyway, they were sold separately and came in 5 different designs and colors.
Beige, pale green, pale blue, blue, and red.. One of these first four colors I sent you first. Today, I sent you the red one.
So, hopefully, one if not both will arrive.
