A Time For Renewal

This next record is the sort of thing that you're lucky to find once in a while if you hunt really hard. You've got to pick up every record you see that you don't recognize by the cover, flip it over, look at the tracklist, open up the gatefold and look at the pictures. No one would suspect this was a Christmas record at first glance, but the tracklist tells the story. And even more of the story is told once you open up the package and read a bit of the liner notes. It was created in the city of Chicago by a group that was trying to revitalize the city, trying to make it livable again after many years of neglect, poverty and blight. They were bringing the community together and making it a good place to live again. The volume three in the title refers not to this being the third Christmas album, but to this being their third album over all that just happens to celebrate the season of Christmas. This is Community Renewal Chorus and All God's Children-Light The Dark Streets-Vol. 3 (Custom Fidelity for Community Renewal Society CFS-3427, Stereo, 1974). Looks like this group is still out there trying to do some good.
