Christmas In July 2012-Redux
Time for another installment of my revamped Best Of Christmas In July collections, and this one is a little special. Not only did I update some of the tracks with newer rips, I also recolored the artwork a bit. If you travel back in time to when I first shared this collection in 2016, you'll see that I wasn't able to make much of the new text color match the original label text. My skills in Gimp must have improved since then because I was able to go in the there and get it right recently, and I'm much happier with how this turned out. It's still not my favorite cover, probably because I didn't change enough stuff from the original label, but it's good for what it is. And looking at the tracklist, it was a good year for music. There's some great stuff in there. Just a Christmas story by Vincent Price is worth the price of admission alone. So be sure you download this one, and enjoy!

Oh, I just remembered my biggest mistake on this disc. For the first time, I duplicated a song from a previous best-of collection. That Merle Haggard track featured on the 2009 collection. Too late to change that, but I still feel bad about it.

Another nice collection! And the cover looks excellent.
ReplyDeleteHum...I was "not" scared one bit by Vincent. It would have been better if he had read it in a demented way. Something to scare those little kids off to sleep, or maybe stay awake from sleeping...
ReplyDeleteI love many of those albums he recorded for Caedmon that are available on the Internet Archive. Oh, so scary, hehee...boo...
It is so funny that he played "The Saint", in those OTR shows. Than ended his career, so to speak, being the opposite of that character.
The LP that track is taken from is played straight. It's not meant to be anything scary or different.
DeleteToo bad. I was hoping Vincent had recorded an album of Christmas stories.
DeleteOh, well, I just have to do with all his scary albums and short stories he recorded.
Basil Rathbone was another great one too.
Basil did some Christmas stuff, but I think it was all pretty straight. You might want to search the blog here for his name. ;)
DeleteThanks Ernie, I know I have captured the Christmas Carols from you and elsewhere, so I need to cross reference these to see if I am missing something.
ReplyDeleteThere was an LP from Westminster where he read the Gospel account of Jesus' birth. I assume that's still up somewhere. I remember there being two distinct versions of the record, but pretty sure Basil's work was the same across both.
DeleteStupid me, I went ahead and re-captured both shares. Then I read the comments on one of them and realized I had just commented on it.
ReplyDeleteSo, I searched my files and folders and located both of them in Stories and Songs. I swear, they were not there before I had re-captured them. Funny how things are in plain sight and you do not see them.
It seems I only listened to the one of the two, so I need to put the other one in my Christmas to listen folder.
You clearly have too many downloads!
