Close Enough For New Year's

I don't have a whole lot of New Year's music to share with you, so this one will have to be close enough to count. Give it a listen and see if you think it's worth the trouble. This is The G-Clefs with I Understand (Just How You Feel) (Auld Lang Syne) (Terrace 7" 45 RPM 45-7500, Mono, 1961).

  1. I remember this one. It was a Top Ten hit and the Oldies stations would play the heck out of it (especially around New Years) in the 60s and very early 70s. Around the time Disco became a thing (73 or 74), they just stopped playing it entirely.

    1. No telling what songs are gonna stick and which ones are going to fade away...

  2. Thanks, Ernie! Missed this one last Xmas season, but thrilled to find it now. I knew the G-Clefs; during the late 80s/early 90s my brothers were the rhythm section for the band as they played a variety of 'oldies/Doo Woo' shows in MA & NH. They were fun dudes, and still had the pipes in their later years, I'm happy to report. I remember one show where younger Doo Woo group The Charms suffered by comparison with the G-Clefs stage show and audience reaction, but were delighted to vocalize back stage with the group. Fond memories!
