Christmas In July 2022-Part 3

July 4th already? Well, happy Independence Day to all my American visitors! And happy Monday to everyone else! Hope you're having a good one! Here's today's list...

1. Button Up Your Overcoat by Billy Rowland And His Thumbtack Piano from They Laughed When I Sat Down (RCA Victor LSP-1872, Stereo, 1959). Nice swinging version, and I seem to remember some weird liner notes on the back of this one.

2. Orchestrated Pattern (Christmas) (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing) from Trendsetter Volume A Disc 31-Wild Work Parts (Media General TRS V-A/D-31, Stereo). Short clip of production music.

3. Skater's Waltz by The Vienna State Opera Orchestra-Anton Paulik, Conductor from Immortal Waltzes (Sesac C 2205/06, Mono, 1962). The first song this season pulled from a batch of SESAC records I grabbed on Discogs. These albums were similar to the production records, but often featured longer songs that could be used for whatever needs arose. This one is over seven minutes, but that's not typical. Some of them featured a record full of one minute creations, I think those are my favorite. Plenty more of these to come, most of which have not been available since the early sixties.

4. Christmas Parade from New TTS Production Music Tracks #3623 (William B. Tanner Company 3623, Stereo). Wish I had good dates for these production records. Hard to pin down exactly when many of them came out.

5. Linksmų Kalėdų/Merry Christmas/Joyeux Noël by Montreal Lithuanian Choir from Kaledos (Vilnius MLC.01, Stereo, 1982). Interesting stuff!

6. December's Boudoir by Laura Nyro (Accompanying Herself On Piano) from Eli And The Thirteenth Confession (Columbia CS 9626, Stereo, 1968). She must have a thing for Christmas, I believe she had an entire LP called Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat, but it wasn't a holiday album.

7. We're The Center Of Everything This Christmas-Vocal from The Great Christmas And Special Events Production Library-Disc 7 (Airforce Broadcast Services Disc 7, Stereo, 1984). Pretty sure I found this record at The Salvation Army store. Then I went looking for more like it on Discogs, and found a pile. I love it when a plan comes together.

8. The Marvelous Toy by Walt Brown With Bill Collins from The Walt Brown Show (Warner Bros W 1568, Mono, 1967). I guess this song was more popular at one time than I thought. There are plenty of versions of it out there.

9. Xmas In New Orleans (Vocal) by Dr. John from the LP Zu Zu Man (Trip TLP-9518, Stereo, 1973). Funny story, I found this LP in the wrong sleeve, but the sleeve was for something else I wanted to share for Christmas In July. So I bought it anyway.

10. I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm by Peter Yorke And His Concert Orchestra from The Melody Lingers On-The Music Of Irving Berlin And Victor Herbert (Decca DL 8240, Mono, 1956). I was excited to find this, but disappointed when I found out I'd already shared it. I've been doing this for too long now.

That's it, enjoy!

  2. Well, it's not bottomless, but it's plenty deep. :)
