Christmas In July 2022-Part 2

Ready for another installment of the Christmas in July tunes? I mean the actual shares, not all this bonus stuff I've been throwing at you. It's a small pile this year, and a short one since all this production music is 0:15 or 0:30 second clips. But it's good stuff, you'll dig it. Here's what's in the bag today.

1. O Come Now To Bethlehem (Ps. 96) by University Of Miami Concert Choir Under The Direction Of Donald Oglesby, Ricky Hardy-Organist, Pianist, Soloist-Skip Sanders from Alleluia-Sing With New Songs (World Library Publications 7912 (Side 2: Christmas), Stereo, 1981). New songs for the Christmas season, that pretty much describes Christmas in July, don't you think?

2. Ave Maria (From "Evening Service") by Don Cossack Chorus-Serge Jaroff, Conductor from Religious Music Sung By Don Cossack Chorus (Columbia Masterworks 10" 33 RPM ML 2163, Mono, 1950). One of the very few songs from 10" vinyl this season. It's just so hard to find. You'll have to make do with the 10" shellac from my other posts.

3. Moonlight In Vermont by The Merimanders from the LP 8/7 Option (Recorded Publications Z-46071/46072 Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, Mono, 1965). Really great cover on this one, that's probably why I picked it up in the first place. Then I was excited that there was something on it I could share. And if you're wondering, the title refers to the number of members in the two groups that share the LP (eight guys or seven girls, your choice).

4. Winter Spell by The Sandals from The Last Of The Ski Bums (World Pacific WPS-21884, Stereo, 1969). An instrumental from an interesting soundtrack LP. More to come from this one.

5. Santa Claus Is Coming (It's Almost Day) by The Weavers from The Weavers On Tour (Vanguard VSD-6537, Electronically Re-Recorded To Simulate Stereo, 1969). A rerun, but a good one.

6. Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring by William Harrison from Easy Trumpet Solos (Music Minus One MMO 7025-29, Stereo). Still waiting for someone to add the proper instrument to one of these play-along records and send me the file...

7. Pre-Holiday Sale-Donut from New TTS Production Music Tracks #3425 (William B. Tanner Company 3425, Stereo). More production music. FYI-Donut refers to the music style with an instrumental hole in the middle of the song where you can add you own voice-over advertising copy.

8. One Solitary Life by Aladdin from Words Of Inspiration By Aladdin (Dot SLP 3570, Mono, 1964). A recitation by a member of the Lawrence Welk crew.

9. From The Nutcracker Suite "Waltz Of The Flowers" by Portsmouth Sinfonia-Conductor: John Farley from Portsmouth Sinfonia Plays The Popular Classics (Columbia KC 33049, Stereo, 1973). Wow, not sure how this made it to vinyl, but I suppose it was through the stewardship of Brian Eno.

10. Maria Walks Amid The Thorn by The Choir Of The First Presbyterian Church Of Dearborn, Alexander J. Turco-Organist And Director from Carols And Anthems (No Label H-1496/1497, Mono, 1967). More from this group from Michigan.

And that's it for group two. Hope you're finding something good in the piles. Enjoy your holiday, I'll be back soon with more!

  3. If you think your hard drive is full, you should see mine. I've got multiple full-resolution versions of all these tracks on mine. My computer groans under the weight...
