Nutcracker In July 21

Must be that time of day, I've got a new Nutcracker to share with you.  Well, maybe not new, but new to you, I hope. I'm hoping most of these versions have been new to you, I hate to think I'm boring you with repeats and old hats.  This one is by the clumsily credited Symphony Orchestra Conducted By Herbert Williams from the LP Tchaikovsky: Suite From Swan Lake-Nutcracker Suite (Westminster XWN 18223, Mono, 1956). Westminster was a major label at the time, but it's odd that they didn't credit an actual orchestra. All sorts of contractual reasons for that, I suppose. Anyhow, here it is, I hope you enjoy it.

  1. Thanks, Ernie. I know you're a Westminster guy.

  2. Yeppers, the Westminster label put out some great stuff in it's time, and now Andy Cirzan and I are the only ones who remember it.

  4. Westminster - a brilliant series of recordings. Always of the highest musical standards (Kurt List). Used to collect them via World Record Club.

Never encountered this one - absolutely cannot understand an unnamed orchestra - yes, they had many orchestras with strange names for contractual reasons.

    Many thanks for the share.

    Cheers.

  5. According to the Tchaikovsky Research web site, this was Artur Rodzinski conducting the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, recorded in 1954. (https://en.tchaikovsky-research.net/pages/The_Nutcracker:_Recordings). Burt
