Hugo's The Boss, Part Three

I've read that Hugo Winterhalter released a number of 45's containing Christmas music over the years, but this is the only one I've come across. He covered the bases here pretty well, getting two different colored Christmases for the price of one. To get one step closer to the complete collection, please download Hugo Winterhalter-Blue Christmas b/w White Christmas (RCA Victor 7" 45 rpm 47-3937).

  1. Hi, Ernie!

Thank you for all the Hugo posts. In my search for a year on some of these, I found (in Whitburn's Pop Hits 1940-1954) Hugo had released "Blue Christmas" in 1949 on Columbia (38635). I can only assume this is a re-recording for RCA...and judging by the catalogue number it falls between "Mr. Touchdown, USA" (RCA Victor 47-3913; 1950) and "Across the Wide Missouri" (RCA Victor 47-4288; 1951). So it might be safe to assume this particular 45 was released at Christmas 1950. Something else that was curious..."Blue Christmas" on Columbia re-charted in 1950. Unfortunatley the B-sides are not listed in this edition of the book.

    Keep up the great work.
