Zondervan used to have religious stores, as I recall, and that may still be true, for all I know.
ReplyDeleteHuh, didn't know that. I did a quick search and found a Wikipedia article about them. Looks like they filed for bankruptcy a few years ago, closed up shop, but later emerged as an online-only entity. Brick-and-mortar stores continue to go the way of the dodo. :(
DeleteThey were known for a long time as Family Christian Stores. They are perhaps better known for their Christian book publishing than they are for their music.

DeleteErnie, I have read before of your comment of just findings things or whatever in the stacks, but do you not really organize?
ReplyDeleteExample: by Genre and then by artists (A-Z) with in each.
Even though I have been doing this for years, sometimes I do slack off-get behind, but I am always improving in my organizational way of doing things.
The other thing I think many of us might like to hear is, how do you prepare an album for ripping. I know a CD takes minutes to rip, but an album? Then of course all the materials invoved. Plus time wise per album from start to finish.
I have to hand it to you for all the time, care, and what not you do to share these treasures to us.
Nope, no organization, just the occasional grouping here and there when I find similar things. It would drive you crazy! :)

ReplyDeleteI have always loved George Beverly Shea music. He was still singing and putting out albums, well into his early 100s. He was even still driving a Lincoln SUV, at the age of 104 or so.
In my research, I have learned of the Zondervan Label... which I believe was eventually bought by the modern Sony Music Group (not 100% sure about that).
Shea recorded a lot of Christmas music in his life. I haven't been excited by very much of it...
