Like Honey To A Bee

Here's yest another Christmas album from an artist I've never heard of but which seems to have some following out there. When I first spotted this record in the stacks (no idea how or when it got there, I don't remember buying this) I thought it was Cissy Spacek playing Loretta Lynn. I guess that's not at all the case, but that is certainly the vide and look I got when I first laid eyes upon it. Not sure the music is in that vein at all, but I can't help but expect it to be. This is Honeytree-Merry Christmas-Love, Honeytree (Birdwing BWR 2029, Stereo, 1981).

1. Christmas Suite: Joy To The World; Silent Night; God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen; What Child Is This?
2. Coventry Carol
3. Il Est NĂ© Le Divin Enfant
4. Children's Song Of The Nativity
5. The World's Desire
6. Some Children See Him
7. Christmas, Joy Of Children

  1. Wow, what a find, Ernie! Honeytree was quite well known in the CCM community at the time Keith Green, Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, Larry Norman, Barry McGuire, et. al. were at their peak. She had an interesting song-writing style and way of expression that was a little more "Jesus Freak" than I was, but hey, she is classic (at least for the few of us!). Thanks, Ernie! Joel C.

    1. There was some talk about her somewhere online that I saw a couple months ago, but I had no idea who she was. Then this record popped up in my collection, so I grabbed it. Hope you enjoy it.
