A Reshared Rarity

This one is a bit of a rarity in that it is something I posted back in 2010 that hasn't been seen at the blog ever since.  And it's also a rare request that I can actually fill, since I don't think it's seen the light of digital day anywhere since I first shared it. It's a release on the Enoch Light-led Grand Award label, though I think there are also copies on the Brigade label which released other Christmas things that first showed up on Grand Award.  Must be some link there that needs some more investigating. If you're interested in the mid-century choral sound, then this might be for you.  It's a pretty old rip though, so beware.  Bitrate is a little low, and this predates my use of ClickRepair, so your ears may not thank you for downloading.  But if you still want it, this is The Edward Carrington Chorale-Christmas Chorale (Grand Award GA 33-387, Mono, 1958)

1. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
2. Good King Wenceslas
3. Silent Night
4. The First Noel
5. God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
6. It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
7. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
8. O Come All Ye Faithful
9. Oh Holy Night
10. Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem
11. Deck The Halls
12. Angels We Have Heard On High
13. Joy To The World
14. Away In A Manger
15. God Give Ye Merry Christmastide
16. Jingle Bells
17. White Christmas
18. Sleigh Ride

Update: You can get a stereo version over at Lee's place. Never seen a copy of the stereo!

  2. I just now posted the stereo version of this: http://musicyouwont.blogspot.com/2020/01/christmas-chorale-edward-carrington.html

My copy's not the best, but it's far from the worst. Nice, full stereo, and some crossover, cut-wise, with an Audition label LP I posted this season. Audition, of course, was part of the Grand Award stable of labels. (Stable of labels?)

  3. Thanks for digging that one up, Lee! I added a pointer my post above, but it's not likely to drive much traffic until next season. But hopefully someone stumbles across it in the meantime.
