Revised Waring

Since I gave you that Fred Waring-narrated promo disc a couple of posts ago, I thought I'd go ahead and give you my revamped version of his greatest Christmas record ever, and one that somehow still isn't available on CD.  My original rip of this from 5 years ago is my second most popular download ever, and I hope this new rip sounds better than that old one, inspiring another thousand or more downloads.  For those who don't recognize the cover by sight, this is Fred Waring And The Pennsylvanians-'Twas The Night Before Christmas (Decca DL 8171, Mono, 1955)

1. Jingle Bells
2. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
3. Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
4. 'Twas The Night Before Christmas
5. Adeste Fideles (O, Come All Ye Faithful)
6. Beautiful Savior
7. The First Nowell; O, Little Town Of Bethlehem; Carol Of The Bells
8. Cantique De Noel (O Holy Night)
9. Oh Gathering Clouds
10. Silent Night

  1. Thank you so much for all your wonderful Christmas (and other holiday) posts -- gifts actually. I am overwhelmed by your generosity as well as your impeccable taste in music and genuinely personal ,archival affinity with it. Hope you and your family enjoyed a great Thanksgiving.

PS: This comment falls far, far short of conveying the pleasure I derive -- and also share with others --from your blog!

  5. Hello, Ernie,

You say this is your second most popular download of all time. What is the first?

  6. The most popular download is the St. Patrick Cathedral record. I can't tell you why, but some people out there must love it. I'll get that one reshared soon enough.

Thanks for all the comments folks, they're great!

  9. Awesome rip, Ernie. Like many, I grew up with the Decca album, which we wore out. I was thrilled in the 1980s when found the vinyl reissued. I snagged every one they had in the store. But to have it digitally ripped is terrific. The new rip is much better, and much appreciated.

  10. Thanks for this. I've been looking for this album for a long time.
Could you please give us the 1942 version of this album (Decca 350) too? I would very much like to compare the two...

    Kind regards,

    Rob

  12. Could you please, please repost this? None of the links appear to be working! Like so many others I grew up listening to this and I'd love to share it with my children. :)
