29-The Night After Christmas

Yes, it's the day after Christmas, or Boxing Day if you prefer, but I feel like I'm just getting started! Thanksgiving was so late in the month this year, there weren't very many days between then and Christmas. Normally by the time Christmas rolls around, I've been sharing records for well over a month, sometimes over five weeks. Not so this year. The number of visitors to the blog will take a nose dive today and continue to sink until we get back into the noise level of the rest of the year, but those of you who stick around will be well rewarded I promise. I didn't share out my best stuff early in the season like I frequently do this time around, so I don't think you're going to see any drop off in the quality of the shares after Christmas versus before Christmas. Stay tuned!

  2. Christmas songs from the Orlons and the Shirelles? What a great day after Christmas treat? The Temptations "Rudolph" is one of my favorite versions of that song; they really made that classic their own. Looking forward to checking out the Rambos, Art Mooney, and the vocal version of Bill Purcell's "Our Winter Love" from the Lettermen.

  3. I stick around till the end of the season every year; you unearth some great ones that I can play and tell my friends about next Christmas season, like you did earlier this year with the Toredor Brass Christmas album.

    1. There's just too much to cram it all in before Christmas, it wouldn't fit!

    1. More of the same, quite likely, though it starts to feel like diminishing returns after a while. Gotta try to keep it fresh. :)

  6. You have not ran out of great shares for sure. I think this is one of the best seasons so far, and I love that we are getting more 45s than ever before. Of course I say that most of the years have been your best, so take that in whatever contexst you choose. I'm also here for the duration!

    1. Yeah, it feels like each year is the best, but I think most of them are pretty good. Gotta keep 'em all a little different, I think.

  7. Just like when people leave a concert before the encores to get out of the parking lot quicker, they'll never know what they missed...those that stay reap the rewards!

    1. Yeah, I don't understand that. You paid $100 to see a big show, and you leave before it's over? Just play some music as you sit in traffic for the next six hours...

  8. Again, thank you very much for this great package Ernie.
