18-Rockin' On A Reindeer

This right here is one of my favorite collections of the season (do I say that about all of them?). It's full of reindeer songs, not just Rudolph but a whole lot of reindeer that you've likely never heard of. Who knew there were so many different reindeer named Randolph? Maybe there are a bunch of them named Rudolph, too, we just don't know it's different ones each time. I tried to come up with a single song for each of Santa's other known reindeer (you know, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen), but I fell short by about half. I could have cheated and used that one record with a song for each one, but I felt like that was cheating. So I'm going to keep looking and maybe by next year I'll have all eight. In the meantime, download this and listen to all the adventures of Rudolph and his friends, it's a hoot!

    1. I've been listening to most of these on my phone for most of the year and things still pop up now and then that I don't remember. Of course I've added some over the year, you'd think they'd all be seared into my memory by now but no.

  2. Thanks for this remarkable collection! I wonder if Grandma got run over by one of these also-ran Rudolphs.

    1. Hard to say. Forensics weren't as advanced back then as they are today.

  3. A Cheeze Pleeze Christmas 2025 will certainly be using some of these.

    1. This is just the tip of the iceberg since I'm limiting myself to singles in my collection. I'm sure you could do a much longer playlist with a little googling. Santa would have a hard time harnessing so many reindeer to his sleigh!

  4. Great way to start the week! Some interesting characters here. "Rocking On a Reindeer" is my early favorite. "Shadrack the Black Reindeer " made an appearance earlier this season, but fits nicely with all the crew. Thanks for this set Ernie!

    1. Shadrack by Loretta was a record I chased after for a while, then wound up with a mono promo copy. I eventually got the stereo version. And then I discovered the songwriter had released his own version, so I had to dig that up, too. Having an addictive personality can get you into trouble sometimes.
