Brazil!

OK, it's time to get serious about my Christmas around the world theme with our first country.  I couldn't decide where in the world to start, so I randomly chose Brazil.  Why not?  Great cover on this one, with Santa up on top of the cable car coming down the mountain.  A little tear where someone had removed a label is the mark you see up at the top left, but it's not bad. You'll see similar marks on several of these albums, they all seem to have come from the same collection, though I don't think I picked them all up at the same time.  Odd.  Anyhow, for your listening pleasure, this is Côro Das Meninas Da Casa De Lazaro-Christmas In Brazil (Capitol "Capitol Of The World" T10168, Mono, 1958).

1. A Valsa De Natal (The Christmas Waltz)
2. Jingle Bells
3. A Doce Cancao De Natal (Sweet Song Of Christmas)
4. Boas Festas (Marcha) (Happy Celebration)
5. Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful)
6. Nasceu Jesus (Jesus Was Born)
7. Natal Das Criancas (Children's Christmas)
8. Noite Feliz (Silent Night, Holy Night)
9. Pinheirinho De Natal (The Christmas Tree-O Tannenbaum)
10. Feliz Natal (Happy Christmas)
11. White Christmas
12. Prece A Sao Francisco De Assis (Prayer To St. Francis Of Assisi)

  3. now THAT’S an album cover.

i know. jim flora didn’t do it. but when you got santa, you don’t need jim. take away his reindeer and his snow and his sleigh. and what does he do? he just grabs the nearest gondola and with the greatest of ease, away he goes. it just goes to prove that you can’t keep a good man down.

  4. I was so close to picking this up at the thrift store today. If they'd had one more thing I wanted, I would have gotten it.

  6. I grew up listening to that very album with fondest memories. I still have our family copy and cherish it. Great music. My parents Ecuadorian, loved Portuguese music. To this day, Getz & Gilberto is one if my all-time favs. Classic.
