Susie & Allie & Tammy

Did you like my Little Marcy share from earlier in the season? Well, guess what? I've got some more in the same vein as that one, only this time, instead of a doll on strings, we've got a couple of hand puppets. And just to make things interesting, everyone's voiced by Tammy Faye Bakker!  How great is that?  Well, at least one of the puppets is an alligator, so it's got that going for it.  If you've got the stomach for it, please download Susie & Allie-Christmas With Susie & Allie (PTL Club PTL-LP-1848, Stereo, 1984).

  1. PTL club! Hilarious.

The Little Marcy got one play (which my 6 year old boy enjoyed) but I don't plan to play this one for more than a couple of minutes, if that.

    Tammy Faye, yikes.

  2. Thanks Ernie...my inner child doesn't usually do an outer upchuck to these kinds of records:)
I see Tammy Faye's influence was limited to vocals only. Little Susie's face looks so freshly scrubbed and natural;)))

  3. Every day I think, how is he ever going to top this? And then you do.

  4. Thank you sooo much! This was one of our family's favorite Christmas tapes in the 80's, when our sons were very young; I still love it! My brother copied it from the vinyl onto a cassette when we were living in Spain. I am now playing that cassette for my grandkids, and it really needs to be replaced. Thanks to you, another generation will be able to enjoy it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!

  5. Thanks for this one.

I used to make fun of Tammy Faye, too, until I saw the documentary "The Eyes Of Tammy Faye," which was being shot right after she found out she was dying.
The movie showed that she was really just a very nice lady with a good sense of humor who liked to put on tons of eye makeup. She cleared up a lot of the PTL controversy (on camera).
And she was very proud of her start on TV with hand puppets -- but they were only able to show still photos.

This LP may be too cutesy for me to stomach, but I want to hear what they sounded like anyway.

    Thanks again.

  6. On the strength of Anonymous' love of this record, I'm going to play it for my kids, with no irony whatsoever.

I love that they still play the cassette recorded from the record many years ago.

  7. I had forgotten about this record until just now! Here's a new link for early 2022, almost 10 years later:

  8. Or here's a slightly higher bitrate version, from the original rip I did all those years ago. Man, my computer is old!
