Christmas Bonus 5
This is the last collection of Christmas singles I have for you this season made with new finds (there is one more completely superfluous collection of stuff tomorrow if you're feeling up to it though). Once again, it's mostly stuff that I found once the season had already begun and everything had already been sorted into themes and prepped for sharing. So there's stuff here that could have easily been slotted into a theme elsewhere but I didn't own it at the time. It was a really great year for finding some really rare Christmas singles, possibly the best one I've ever had, and I found it all locally without having to spend a dime at Discogs! And big thanks to friend-of-the-blog Laurie for sending me a large care package of singles I didn't have as well! It's hard for people to find records I don't already have, yet she managed to send me a dozen or so that I'd never seen before. Now I'm sharing the Christmas bonanza with you. It's been a great year all around and I appreciate those of you who are still with me after fifty days of Christmas sharity. As somebody once said, what a long strange trip it's been! Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteIt's a lot of work, but I think it's worth it to be able to hear all these great Christmas singles. So much stuff here that I've had in the collection for a while but have never been able to enjoy. Now I can listen to it whenever I please. :)
DeleteGreat job on this - you have outdone yourself! Amazing work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your unending support, Buster, this year and every year!
DeleteWow - just wow. And thank you. An epic year, in an era when I thought maybe things were tapering off. I confess that the variety occasionally caught me off guard - in some years I longed for less Nutcracker, while this year some of the little kid ones weirded me out more than usual, plus more journeys into '70s disco-esque than I remember from the past decade or so. But I love the compilation vibe, ultimately the variety with a bit of theme - so much made this year a great one. Merry Christmas and thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh, things are tapering off. It gets a little harder every year to come up with something new and different, and reasonably good. Some years lately are all local music and gospel records that no one has heard of before, and next year is liable to go back to that. But this was a banner year. :)
DeleteAnd again thank you very much for this great selection Ernie! Ik keeps gettin' better and better :-))
ReplyDeleteI gave it my best. Now I need a nap. :)
DeleteStarting here and making my way back through your posts this season! Ones I love: Cassietta George (never heard the single version of this!) Hank Crawford Boots, Andre Sisters, Mathis (love these intros) Smurfs. New to me that I love: modern jazz quartet (know them just not this) Vel-Mars (soooo good) Pj Proby, Joe Gumin, Vic Barrel, the ed Sullivan (put off getting this but this song is so good) and the Seymour. Some other good stuff but those are the ones of note for me.
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna be busy for a while if you're working backwards. Enjoy! :)
DeleteThank you once again Ernie! May the vinyl gods surprise us all and shower you with more undiscovered goodies. All other gods are equally welcome and encouraged to bless you with treasures. Thank you Ernie, enjoy your time off! -Organ
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the support!
