12-It's Christmas Every Day Of The Year

Day 12 and the singles just keep right on a-flowing. Though to be honest, there is one thing I'm regretting about this year. Only sharing one share a day with you folks is a little boring. I feel sort of isolated, kinda like we're not engaging very much. I don't know if it feels the same way to you, but that's how it feels to me. I make the one post and that's it. I suppose that's a lot like how most of you experience the blog, you visit once a day and that's it. But I'm used to some of these years where I had posts going up every few hours, it seemed like there was always something new and exciting going on. Not that this once-daily giant post isn't exciting, but it's a long time until the next high. Maybe next year I can go back to the old format. We'll just have to wait and see. Anyhow, today in the pile is a bunch of songs performed by sister acts. I'd hoped to have more of them, but this was all I could scrape together. I've padded it out with songs featuring female vocals, so that's kinda nice. I took a look around to see if I could make a similar collection of brother acts, but I was only able to find one song. Odd double standard there, don't ya think?  It's a good collection either way, I think you'll enjoy it.

  1. if you did some more album remasters this season, we would have had a little more variety. Maybe you can sneak some in throughout the season if you have time.

    1. Hard to find the time. Recording singles takes much, much longer than recordings albums on a song-for-song basis. I can never walk away from the record player for more than three minutes... Not that I'm complaining, just stating the fact of the matter.

    2. You can also split the day's post into two parts if you would like; share 25 songs in the morning and the remaining 20 later in the day.

    3. That sort of defeats the purpose of 45 songs from 45 RPM records...

  2. No complaints here, but share more if you like! Won't complain about that either.

    1. Don't have anymore to share. I've been recording these singles since January and not much else. :)

  3. Ernie! Respected Sir! I'm happy with whatever you choose to share and ever-how-often that happens. It's on me to get through all the content, and I'm working on that. Honest, man, you do you. It's all good. Thanks very much.

  4. Hi Ernie,
Do not worry as 45 tracks a day is just about 4 albums or so. That is plenty of music for you to share with us.
Also, I still have a folder of some albums you shared with us last year, that I have not listen too yet. I need to listen to them at some point.
Oh, at least two songs my computer says the path is too long or will not transfer. It is early Tuesday morning here in Berlin, so I will try to figure out these problem tracks in the afternoon.
But I have this same problem with my own mp3 files. I need to shorten one here and there to transfer them to my external hard drive. Funny how these things are sometimes.

    1. You can try extracting the files into a folder closer to the root of c:\, that makes for a shorter path and allows the files to extract. If it continues to be a problem, I can modify the download file.

    2. Hi Ernie,
What I did was the following. When this came up to extract:
      C:\Users\bc711\Music\- - - 2024 - Ernie (Not Bert)\12-It's Christmas Every Day Of The Year
      I deleted everything after C:\Users\bc711\Music\
Then I extracted the folder with no problems.
Funny thing was, there were two tracks that had the problems being extracted originally. With this shorter named folder, it worked with no problems. Go figure, I do not understand why...

    3. Windows has some upper limit to the length of the path, so a long file name and a deep path will cause that limit to be exceeded. Problem is that it doesn't tell you that's what's happening, you just kind of have to know. I think every new version of Windows makes that maximum path length a little longer, but it's never going to be long enough to cover every eventuality. Glad you got it to work though.

    4. Hi Ernie,
I know you once said what kind of job you did for a living?
Anyway, what I do is somewhat interesting. I work as a Personal Assistant-Organizer. In other words, I make things more Organized for those that employ me. They have an easier life and everything for the most part is: there is a place for everything and everything is in its place.
      1. I have a contract with several clients.
      2. I am self-employed.
      3. I work a life-balanced life.
      4. I work for the most part on my terms with very little interference from those that employ me.
      5. Everyone I work for is long termed.
      6. My work involves travel, if the client wishes it...example with in Germany, but also England and Sweden. I have been to Sweden many times these last 2 months. But mostly with in Germany.
Oh, I hate disorganization. It pays to be organized in more ways than one.

    5. Powder coating and Christmas music, that's my life in a nutshell. And I'd do more Christmas music if I could find a way to get paid. :)

    6. Powder coating sounds very interesting.
I was brought up to be organize in everything I did...if my life depended on it. I am a perfectionist. A perfectionist is a person that is never perfect. That is me. Plus, design and being creative in one way or another. Plus, I knew how to manipulate those around me to get what I wanted. Mostly with females though, but I did not let males go free. So, basically, I have free reign in my work. I know what is needed to be accomplished, when something new comes up, Bryan takes care of it, no questions asked. With the exception of explaining maybe why I did it, which rarely comes up. Oh well...

  5. Aw now I feel bad for not commenting! I love these Christmas 45s. We are out here appreciating you 😀

  6. Christmas Boogie is a big favorite of mine, but I regret to inform you that the Davis Sisters were not really sisters.

    1. I suspect they aren't the only non-sister sister act here. I hope to expand this theme in the future and find enough sister acts to fill the download. :)

  7. Hey Ernie,
I was thinking the same thing... Last year, I was commenting more on posts, but it might because it's usually a full album, instead of a list of singles :)
Thank you, anyways though Ernie :)

    1. Yeah, it just feels different this year. Not wrong, just different. Every year has a little bit different feel.

    1. Yeah, the piles are kinda big this year, but once I got that idea of doing 45 songs from 45s, I had to run with it. Guess how many days I intend to keep this up? :)

    2. hopefully up to Epiphany; if not then, then maybe Christmas Eve, being that you take Christmas Day off like the rest of us.

  9. Another winner - thanks again! The Felice Taylor, Dea Woodman & Woody Woodman Combo + Cheryl Poole songs in particular - sounded like they might as well had been among the well known classics.

    1. I was afraid that some people would complain that I've shared some of those singles before, but so far I've seen lots of comments about the reshares being favorites. I think that has something to do with them being in a new format here. Things sound different depending on how they're presented. But I'm over-analyzing here. Glad you enjoy the music! :)

    2. I would never, ever complain about your generous, daily shares. And while I've come back to your blog for over a decade by now, I've missed out of loads. I can't keep up:). I actually prefer these semicurated bundles you've been focusing on for the last couple of years. I do think I listen more attentively to every song this way. At least half of each collection goes straight to the recycle bin every time. Sometimes pretty much everything. But if I locate five or six new favorites in one share on average, I'm more than happy. So far this year I've added sixty new songs into my absurdly long Christmas playlist - thanks to you. I'm forever thankful.

    3. I know you have to curate things, but it makes me sad that all that great Christmas music get tossed. :(

      Delete
    4. As with all (digital) music, I keep what I personally think is great and will choose to listen to again. I thought everyone did. I certainly don't think all Christmas music is great. Far from it. I collect what I like. I don't have enough space on my MAC for everything I will never actually revisit. What I really collect is physical 33's, 45's and 78's and I would never toss any of those.

      Delete
    5. I've got plenty of hard copies but I need to start getting rid of it all. Takes up too much space, costs real money to hold onto. Digital copies cost me a lot less. Not that I've actually gotten rid of any of my hard copies, but I'm beginning to think about it. :)

    6. I suppose we're different that way. Digital or physical, I have to somewhat enjoy/like something to keep it (but I love my whole physical music collection - which doesn't cost me anything additional after I've bought the actual item. At least not yet:). As of now I have "only" a 44 hour long list of finely curated Christmas music on my mp3-player. But that's quite a lot really, as there's nothing but songs I actually love to listen to (and revisit) during this season.

  10. I love that each year is something different- you put your mighty efforts into educating and entertaining us, so I'm enjoying it however it's presented! Thank you so much!

    1. The slightly different format each year is a sorta new development. It used to just be random shares. Depends on how much forethought I put into the season. :)

    2. And doing a group of 45s in one fell swoop is a lot easier for you than two years ago, when you did 45s on the hour every hour during some of the Saturdays during the 2022 Christmas season.

  11. I like this year's format - I find I keep up with it more than in other years - I just listen to the compilation immediately rather than hold back to pay attention to a full album. For my part it's hard to keep up with the threads of comments across multiple daily shares, especially when I hadn't listened to the share yet. I'm not saying this is better, but I appreciate the change of pace. Thanks for putting together such massive compilations every day!

    1. Yeah, I can imagine it's much easier to listen to a share this way. There's no order to it, and you can start and stop as needed. Makes for a good car listen, I think. I'm always finding new stuff in there, and I've been playing it all year!
