08-Give Us Our Farm Back For Christmas

Time for another interesting batch of Christmas singles, this time focusing on country music, though there are quite a few iterations of that sound here. I tried to cover a lot of bases here with twangy 50's, countrypolitan 60's, country-rock 70's, Duke-boy 80's right up to slick 90's productions that would make the old-timers roll over in their graves. But it's all got that sound that means you have to play it on one radio station and not the other. I had a lot of records available that I could have easily slipped into this category, but then I could say that about most of the themes this year. I just put stuff into piles as best I could and called it done. Feel free to remix my selections once you've downloaded everything, that's your prerogative. You can probably also find better sounding versions for plenty of my shares this season. 45's just get beat up a lot worse than albums. I'm sure that's because albums come in a nice thick protective cardboard sleeve and 45 often come with only a paper sleeve that's frequently discarded. 50-60 years later, they can be a tough listen. But at least you'll know your listening to an authentic single.  Enjoy!

  1. I love that you have Johnny $ Dollar doing a holiday safety PSA on this one.

You seem to have captured all the facets of the varied country scene in your 45 tracks!

    1. It's a deep and wide vein of interesting country music. I had a few country artists I could choose a greeting from, but I liked that this one used his Christmas In The Country song. :)

    1. But do you remember Po Folks restaurants? They used to be fairly common, but I only know of one these days. I think this record was a giveaway or a souvenir from Bill Anderson's restaurants.

  3. Hi Ernie,
When can we send you a Christmas Card this year? That worked out well last year, it was nice seeing them come from so many places.

    1. You can of course send me a Christmas card anytime you like, but I wasn't going to ask for them like last year. Trying to keep things a little simpler this time around. Mr. & Mrs. Ernie (Not Bert), 3801 Parkridge Circle, Sarasota, FL 34243. Thanks!

  4. Dude, you're killin' it this year. A comp a day, of all great stuff.

    1. Thanks! I thought about what kind of blog I'd like to discover this year, and this is pretty much what I dreamed about. A big collection of singles each and every day. I think it might be a bit better if I could stick to the theme every day and avoid the filler, but I don't have that many singles to cover each theme, and the idea of doing 45 tracks each day was too attractive to pass up. :)
