72-Tchaikovsky Time

When I first started downloading tracks from The Internet Archive for this season's sharing, I tried to avoid grabbing selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. I know I did grab one here and there, especially if they were part of a set I was completing, or an especially interesting artist, or something that fit with a theme I was thinking of, so there have been a few selections shared already this year.  But as I was searching for things to extend the season recently, I came back to The Nutcracker, and wound up downloading quite a few interesting versions to share with you here in one big batch. Lots of neat little things here from a complete reworking of the whole suite by Freddy Martin to a lively marimba waltz, an incomplete story version from old friend Milton Cross to some singing canaries from Hartz Mountain. I'm sure there is something in here to catch your interest.  Download and enjoy!

  5. Love it! Big fan of the Nutcracker. Your summer shares this past year were tremendous. I've been partial to Freddy Martin's versions and have used some in my annual comps. I thought you had shared it before. You may have, but I couldn't find it before I posted this. Anyway...the surprise will be fun to listen to today as well. Thanks Ernie.
