36-Xmas

A bonus short set for your Christmas Day, this time featuring songs that use the abbreviation Xmas in place of Christmas. I don't think people meant any offense in using this shorthand, but some took it to be a symbol of the removal of Christ from Christmas. But isn't an X a symbol used in the first century to represent Christ? Granted, a lot of folks probably don't know that though. Anyhow, here's a short selection of Xmas tunes for you to celebrate the big day with, all sourced from Santa's big sack at The Internet Archive. Enjoy!

Thank you, Ernie! The shares have been great this season (and hopefully less work for you). Merry Christmas!!

Haven't we seen Sonny Wakilis and His Squeeze Box around here before?

I heard long ago that the "X" represents the cross, which doesn't seem appropriate on Christ's date of birth.

Hope you are having a great day! We have a foot of snow.

I've read the the "X" is (was) a Greek representation of "Christ", so it's okay. Except to those who desire to be offended.

Merry Christmas, Ernie! Thank you so much for all of these, and for all of the music you've so generously shared. Please know that you have brought me so much joy at my busiest and most exhausting time of year, when it's easy to feel jaded and discouraged. I'm looking forward to listening to them all. You are the best!
