The Christmas season can be a stressful one at times, so how about a little Christmas comedy to take the edge off? I thought you'd appreciate that. This share is a little bit short because I've used many of the available songs in other collections, but this is still a nice selection of songs that lean more towards the ha-ha than towards the awe and majesty of the season. For me, all types of songs are welcome in the season, but some people just don't like the funny songs, as evidenced by the revolt against the Christmas classic, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. That song doesn't feature here, unfortunately, but we do have another perennial classic, The Chipmunk Song. As usual, all these great songs were taken from 78 by the fine folks at
The Internet Archive, I just cherry picked them and cleaned up the sound a little bit. Hope there's something here that gives you a good belly laugh, and makes you shake like a bowl full of jelly.

A long time reader of your blog - I must say, your collections this year have been amazing! Thanks for all your work and Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing all the way to the bank of snow on my back walkway. My snow shovel will drown out the sound of my laughter. But you can take my word for the enjoyment you will give.
ReplyDeleteYou've got quite a run of Gayla Peevey records going. I wonder if she ever got her hippopotamus.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you all, thanks for the comments! No snow here, should be back up into the 80s today. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ernie, this was a fun-filled collection. Really enjoyed it. Different and entertaining. Do you have a part two coming soon? Bryan
ReplyDeleteWow, who knew that Gayla put out so much - she must have really been working hard that year - thanks - Mac
ReplyDeleteThanks all!
ReplyDeleteBryan-I don't think I have enough to do a second collection of the funny songs. Or maybe I did, but they got placed into other collections they fit into. The bigger collections are the ones I did first, then they sort of trickle down from there. I'm sure they could have been sorted out any number of ways...
Mark-I think I've covered her Christmas career pretty completely, except for the big and easy to find hit. I think they spanned a few years, she was trying to recapture that magic, but they just couldn't seem to hit the same chord. But a hippo, come on, how're you going to repeat that?!?
Helloo mate great blog post
ReplyDeleteThanks! Was a great season all around that year.
