Nutcracker In July 18
Good morning! Here's your daily dose of nut-cracking good music, courtesy of Frederick Stock Conducting The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, from the album Nutcracker Suite-Tchaikovsky (Columbia/Entré RL 3002, originally recorded 1939, Mono). Yep, a real professional outfit here on a major label. Sure you'll enjoy this one!
Thanks! I do like this one - I think I posted this performance myself many years ago.
ReplyDeleteDon't be afraid to link to your blog here Buster! Here's your post, which has a lot more detail that I'm too lazy to research or learn. :)

Thanks, Ernie - but there doesn't seem to be any slacking off around here that I can discern.
ReplyDeleteNice performance. The sound is really excellent for 1939 mono... this may be my favorite "standard version" so far (love the Moog version). B
ReplyDeleteThe big labels had some pretty sweet recording going on by this time. Radio was probably the biggest driver of that though, the home market was secondary. The biggest missing piece was tape recording.
