Nutcracker In July 13

It's time once again for Nutcracker in July, our daily dip into the broad and vaied world of the Tchaikovsky classic.  Today we've got a version by Symphony Orchestra Of The Belgian National Radio Conducted By Franz Andr√© from the album Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite-Serenade For Strings (Telefunken TCS 18001, Stereo, 1958).  I'm sure you'll enjoy it, even if it does sound pretty much like the previous 12 versions.

This is another potential gem that I haven't heard before - thanks!

It's very good, but the recording is too close and harsh.

You think it's a real artist/group? Telefunken was a pretty major label, I believe, but who knows...

Yes, they are definitely real. I have other recordings by them.

Franz Andre - definitely "real" and was highly regarded.

Omnipresent in 1950s and 1960s.

I have many valued recordings by this ensemble and director.

Cheers,

Douglas.

Ah, good to know. Figured he was real since this was a major label, though not one from the US. Thanks for the info.
