A Christmas Journey
This is the sort of thing I like to find and post, though they're becoming somewhat rarer as the years go by. A custom production complete with unique songs for a bank in New Jersey, featuring a few kids and a guy on an accordion, how can you go wrong with that? Beautiful cover, too! They just don't make 'em like this anymore. The record is split into two side-long pieces, and you have your choice. You can download it as a pair of side-long tracks, or a version where I've cut each side up into it's individual tracks. Both versions are nice, I'm sure you'll get a big kick out of it. This is Cathy, Peter, Paul And Carol-Anne Accompanied By Dellaira-Journey Into Christmas (Delham Productions For Trenton Trust Company (Trenton, New Jersey), Delham 68119, Mono, 1965). I forgot to mention the great sound effects! And the acting! It's a complete package of family entertainment!

ReplyDeleteYou sure can find the rare ones. Great cover!
ReplyDeletetop quality. a lot of superior production work in this. usually, with things of this nature, they just stick a microphone near the piano and hope for the best.
ReplyDeletei keep forgetting that the banks have money.
Awesome! Thank you much. Love this kind of record.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm a bit late.
There a few songs with the writing credit "Dellaira-Mildred Jones".
Has anyone an idea, who that is?
On discogs there is a accordionist named "Angelo Dellaira" (https://www.discogs.com/de/artist/5842625-Angelo-Dellaira) and a singer/piano player "Mildred Jones" (https://www.discogs.com/de/artist/2619033-Mildred-Jones). Is seems the Mr. Dellaira was married to a Mildred Jones Dellaira (https://fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com/tribute/details/112/Anthony-Dellaira/obituary.html), but I'm not sure if this the same person.
That's quite a bit of detective work, seems likely to me! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMost items like this were produced for a local company with a local audience. Today most banks (and other such service businesses) are huge and not concerned with cultivating the local folks. They use other, and perhaps more efficient forms of promotion on a broader basis.
ReplyDeleteI had a guy from a local branch of a big bank stop in at work the other day. He gave me a bang of candy, pens, some hand sanitizer and I think some gum. He wanted my business, but all of our banking is handled from corporate in Ohio. I would have preferred a nice Christmas record, but I did eat the candy. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the days are gone when the local bank would gift you with a Liberace record.
