Welcome Christmas!!!
Good evening, and welcome to Christmas 2018! Now that the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers are put away, it's time to get this season underway. I've got a ton of records that I want to share with you this year, one or two of which you may actually like, and a bunch that you'll listen to once and then never visit again. Try and figure out which is which. Those of you that have been here before will know the drill, but new folks just need to know that you click the button and download the old crappy album. I've switched to MEGA this year, so I hope that works better for some folks. I was tired of the pop-ups and malware threats from Zippyshare. If I'm not sharing stuff out fast enough for you, you can always go back through Christmas in July 2018 where I think all the shares are still good. That's over 400 Christmas songs taken from non-Christmas albums. I've also gone back and put new download links in most of the new shares from last year, and even some of the ones from 2016. That's a lot of music for you to sort through and enjoy. Some of it's good, some of it's bad, but all of it has been forgotten by time until I brought it back into the digital age. All of these shares are from my own collection of old vinyl & shellac discs, most dating back to the 50's and 60's, but some are older, some are newer. You just never know what you're going to find in the back rooms of thrift stores and charity shops. I've grabbed records from stores all over the country while on vacation or various trips. Some people send me records they think I might like, and some things come from eBay or online sales, though those are pretty few and far between. Most of the records you'll see here I spent a buck on, so don't expect any sonic miracles, but I think some of them came out pretty good. The only thing I ask of you is to leave a comment once in a while. I like getting comments. Tell me what you think about the records. If you have something to add, that's great. We love to hear from the people that made the music, too. I can't tell you how many times we've heard from people who's parents or grandparents were in the featured band, and they've never heard the music before. That's nice. Anyhow, the shares should start popping up shortly. Thanks for stopping by in this, our 13th year!
Checking in with you and playing Christmas Roulette has been a treasured part of my holiday season for several years now - thanks for the work and have a great Christmas!
ReplyDeleteComing back for my thirteenth year! Christmas just wouldn't be the same without you. Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteChristmas roulette, that sounds about right. :)
ReplyDeleteThankyouthankyouthankyou for getting away from that dratted Zippyshare! MEGA worked great for me (just downloaded your first share for this season) It takes me 2, if not three tries to download anything from ZippyHack! LOL
ReplyDeleteErnie, you're one of my favorite Christmas traditions!
ReplyDeleteHappy thanksgiving, Ernie - I'm so happy to have the sharing season starting up. Can't wait to see what you have to offer!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYES! Now the season has truly begun!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas from Las Vegas...
ReplyDeleteI started my 16th season as a Salvation Army bell ringer Tuesday...but the 14th at the same Smith's near Summerlin... A few albums from here have actually made my regular kettle music rotation...as well as a few from Buster and a few others...and I want to thank you for meeting my years long Christmas music fix...
Santa - whose music gets more donations, mine or Ernie’s?
ReplyDeleteThank you for being a part of my family's Christmas traditions. You should be the fifth head on Mt. Rushmore!
ReplyDeletecall him ernie.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're counting the days this year again. If you're going to upload organ music, please don't forget Eddie Dunstedter And Jesse Crawford. I know they are fixtures here, but their albums were, for me, tops of the genre--the way Ruth Welcome's zither albums were in her's. I'm trying to track down some of Crawford's 1930s recordings to see if there are any relevant to your mission.
ReplyDeleteBuster...I think it's about even...not sure about the coinage tie breaker though...
ReplyDeleteSanta - I am sure Ernie's organ records will bring in some loose change.
ReplyDeleteYour contributions over the years have become a holiday listening tradition in our house! Thank you- Steve in PA
ReplyDeleteAlways a treat to see your Xmas posts!
ReplyDeletethanks much
Thank you for all your hard work, Sir.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Ernie! I'm looking forward to the shares this season!!
ReplyDeleteIt's not even December yet, and you have already outdone yourself! :) I'm just so relieved that dark era for your blog (2013-2015) is a thing of the past! (though the reasons why it was so then, I do understand)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Ernie. I'm glad to know you've returned so strongly the past three years or so. I will need to look back and see what's alive, or renewed from the 2017 season and earlier as I lost so much in a data crash. Thanks also for switching to Mega!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your hard work! Always enjoy discovering new treasures here!
ReplyDeleteIf you have any of the Reader's Digest or Longines Symphonette collections, it would be wonderful to revisit those sounds! Merry Merry!
I hate to sound stupid but how do you download the files?
ReplyDeleteJohn, click on the MEGA link near the end of each post.
ReplyDeleteYes, click on the MEGA text near the bottom of the songlist in each post, and select download. Though I've heard it doesn't work on an iPad, you'll have to use a real computer. Once the file downloads, you'll have to unzip it, then play the mp3 files in your music software of choice.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, it works on Android devices, or at least this one.
ReplyDeleteWhen I click on the link it just comes up as an empty tab. Right clicking does nothing also. Thanks anyway.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the MEGA.nz website is being blocked on your system somehow. You'll have to resolve that on your end.
ReplyDeleteit appears that my isp blocks it
